In 741, following Alsindre's Insurrection, Melistrande enters the war against the Empire of Bellsandhe. As the imperial forces were pushed away from the borders, they routed closer to the Imperial city.

In 742 A.R., on the The Night of Shadow Knives Assassins sneak into the capital city of Vizrand and into the Dawn’s Break palace and within one evening assassinate all family members of House Bellsandhe. Within the span of a few hours the Empire is dealt a resounding blow that cripples the moral of the Imperial armies.

In 742 A.R. The Imperial armies had been successful in pushing back Alsindre’s march on the capital of Vizrand.

In 743 A.R. After much debate, Duvok I’lshandre is crowned Emperor I’lshandre The First. By Imperial decree the Empire is renamed the Empire of Ilshandre. A peace treaty is signed withKing Aruc The Third of Melistrande and the new Emperor quickly sets to establishing a firm power base for himself.

In 755 A.R. Emperor I’lshandre The First dies from sickness peacefully in bed. He passes power to his second son, who becomes Emperor I’lshandre The Second.

In 763 A.R. Emperor I’lshandre The Second is injured in a riding accident while hunting. He dies that night leaving his only heir, his daughter, to become Empress I’lshandre The Third.

In 797 A.R. Empress I’lshandre The Third dies. Her third son and only surviving heir becomes Emperor I’lshandre The Fourth.

In 817 A.R Emperor I’lshandre The Second is injured in an assassination attempt and retreats to the Dawn Palace.
