During The Battle of Altain in 741 A.R. Emperor Bellsandhe is slain and his son Tormund is mortally wounded in battle. Although crowned as Emperor Bellsandhe the Eighth, the newly crowned Emperor never rises from his bed and within a few days of his crowning dies while his army is still marching in retreat. Duvok I’lshandre takes over military planning for the remainder of the war.

After much debate, Duvok I’lshandre is crowned Emperor I’lshandre The First in 743 A.R. By Imperial decree the Empire is renamed the Empire of Ilshandre. A peace treaty is signed with King Aruc The Third of Melistrande and the new Emperor quickly sets to establishing a firm power base for himself.

Imperial Document The Ruling of the Golden Crane in 743 A.R. reveals the aftermath of the insurrection. Merin Alsindre is put to death in a grand spectacle. All remaining blood relatives of Alsindre are captured and under Imperial decree marched to the capital where The Week Of Blood takes places, slowly putting to death the entire family and ending the Alsindre line. By Imperial decree if any man woman or child is revealed to have Alsindre blood they are to be immediately put in chains and marched to the capital to be summarily executed. All Alsindre lands are confiscated and divvied up the loyal Houses of the Empire.

In 755 A.R. Emperor I’lshandre the First dies from sickness peacefully in bed. He passes power to his second son, who becomes Emperor I’lshandre The Second.
