In 788 A.R. King Luto The Sixth declares the Treaty of Singing Rock null and marches an army towards Karast. Ilshandre is too weak from multiple invasions to respond in kind and the armies of Melistrande quickly retake the territories they lost from the peace treaty.

In 791 A.R. a new peace accord is signed between Ilshandre and Melistrande. Known as the Treaty of the Splintered Tower, it makes great concessions from both Kingdom and Empire. All lands south of the city of Leshstrand are now known as The Disputed Territory and are claimed by both Kingdom and Empire.
